Pawhuska High School has rescheduled its graduation ceremony for the class of 2020 to Friday, June 26th in response to social distancing measures put in place due to the coronavirus.
The ceremony will be held at Ormond Beach stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The new date is contingent on all bans being lifted by the State in time for the event to take place.
“Given this year’s unprecedented disruption, the class of 2020 will definitely go down in history as having the most memorable of graduation ceremonies,” said Superintendent David Cash. Graduation is a most significant time for families and friends to celebrate the accomplishments of our young people. In setting this date, however, we also recognize that safety measures for large public gatherings may still be in place. For that reason, we will make alternate plans for a “virtual type graduation” in the event we would need to cancel the June 26th ceremony for safety reasons. Regardless of the venue, I want to assure seniors and their families that we will celebrate this milestone event, whether in person or virtually.
“A virtual graduation is not our preference,” said Mr. Cash. “We just need to have an alternate plan in place should it become necessary.
